Auto/Graphs image finalist in William & Winifred Bowness Photography Prize 2026 at MAPh

August 24, 2026

‘Untitled 02 (Auto / Graphs) 2026,’ is a finalist in the 2026 William & Winifred Bowness Photography Prize at the Museum of Australian Photography. The exhibition opens in September at MAPh. Thank you to judging panel @natasha.bullock @petrina.hicks @anouska_phizacklea (curator).

Auto/Graphs is a photographic investigation of subscapes: layered, hidden systems embedded within the urban built environment; structures not always visible at ground level that become legible when viewed from above. The city, rather than a series of architectural forms, becomes a surface of inscriptions: grids, scars, seams, circulations, and interruptions. From this vantage point, the urban landscape is a diagram of simultaneity: attempts to create order and traces of disorder. While constructing a documentary project that references the real world, I also wanted to allow each image to resist that function; to collapse into abstraction, chaos, and play.
